Removal of fish at Tivedale Quays

Anglers have been fuming about British Waterways’ decision to remove fish from canals in the Midlands to stock stillwaters miles outside the region where people are charged to fish.

The latest netting occurred at Tivedale Quays in the West Midlands, and follows similar operations in recent weeks on the Coventry Canal and Birmingham Fazeley Canal. The Tivedale Quays fish have been moved to Toddbrook Reservoir, 70 miles away. British Waterways say they have a licence to remove up to 9000lb of fish if they wish to!
